Governor Shapiro's Executive Order on Data Center Development
|
Today, Governor Josh Shapiro delivered remarks before signing an executive order to implement the Governor's Responsible Infrastructure Development (GRID) Requirements - to block speculative, irresponsible data center projects from moving forward, give local communities more power over data center development, and protect Pennsylvania residents.
Governor Shapiro’s executive order puts strong, commonsense requirements in place that will hold data center developers accountable and protect our communities, utility costs and environment. This executive action is necessary. It also builds on the work House Democrats have already advanced through the passage of multiple bipartisan bills to give communities more control, prevent electricity rate hikes, protect clean water, and much more. While these measures to hold big tech accountable are currently in the Senate, Governor Shapiro is taking strong, meaningful and comprehensive action.

Shapiro Administration Enhances 511PA Website with Real Time Info to Help Travelers Headed to the Little League World Series
|
Are you headed to Williamsport to watch some of the Little League World Series games?
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is encouraging drivers traveling to the Little League World Series in Williamsport to plan their trip using the enhanced real-time travel and alternate-route information available on a specialized web page at www.511PA.com/map/page/LLWS. These enhancements support Governor Shapiro’s commitment to providing accessible, real-time digital services to every Pennsylvanian.
Hosted through the department's www.511PA.com traveler information website, the page is dedicated to monitoring traffic conditions on the primary travel routes to the event: Route 15 south to Route 220 to Market Street (from north); Route 15 north (from south); Interstate 80 east to Route 220 north to Market Street (from west); and I-80 west to Route 15 north (from east).
The page includes the current travel time for the primary route as well as one or two alternate routes. Users can see incidents, construction, traffic cameras, and traffic speeds on the map.

Multimodal Transportation Funding Invests in Transportation Project in Lower Moreland
|
Governor Josh Shapiro announced that 50 highway, bridge, aviation, port, bike, and pedestrian projects in 27 counties across Pennsylvania have been selected for $54 million in funding through the Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF).
Together, these new investments will improve safety, strengthen local economies, and enhance mobility across the Commonwealth, connecting communities and people to opportunity.
These funds will help invest in safer roads, bridges, ports, and transit, as well as creating jobs, strengthening local economies, and making it easier for people to get where they need to go.
I’m happy to announce in our district that Lower Moreland Township was awarded $1.2 million for transportation improvements to support the development of the new Fetter’s Mill Fire Rescue Station. These improvements will help make accessibility to the fire rescue station safe and smooth.
Congratulations to Lower Moreland Township for being awarded these funds which will greatly improve the transportation our district.
PennDOT will begin accepting applications for the next round of MTF grants on September 14, 2026, at 8:00 AM. Applications are due by 4:00 PM on October 30, 2026. Grant recipients for funding available in summer 2027 are expected to be announced next year. To learn more about the projects and programs improving transportation across Pennsylvania, visit Multimodal Transportation | Department of Transportation | Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Changes Coming to Medicaid in Pennsylvania
|
Big changes are coming to Pennsylvania’s Medicaid program beginning January 1, 2027. Under a new federal law, some adults ages 19–64 will need to meet new work and community engagement requirements, and some Medicaid recipients will have their eligibility reviewed every six months instead of annually.
If you receive Medicaid, it is important to make sure DHS has your current address and contact information so you do not miss notices about your benefits. You can update your information through COMPASS and sign up for text and email alerts from DHS.
If you receive a notice from DHS or need help updating your information, my office can submit changes to DHS and communicate with the department on your behalf to help make sure your information is received and your case is properly updated. Email us at RepGuenst@pahouse.net or call 215-259-5962.
Learn more about the upcoming Medicaid changes here. You can also call the HR1 FAQ Line at 1-877-883-6383.

Hatboro National Night Out and Colonial Day at the Library
|
Taylor staffed our table at the Hatboro National Night Out which was held on Friday at Miller Meadow in Hatboro. The event drew a huge crowd! There were police demonstrations, food, activities for kids, music, and a mini golf putting course – plenty of fun for everyone. We were thrilled to see so many familiar faces - thanks for stopping by the table to say hello!
|
I also attended the Colonial Day event held by the Hatboro Union Library. It was a fun day filled with colonial games, crafts, music, activities, and a colonial passport where the kids could collect stamps at different activities.
Thanks to the Hatboro Union Library for putting on such an informative and historic event! I can't wait until the next one.
